Notable Cars

Every Collector Edition is numbered, but some have a story. A car's history follows the car, not the people: owners aren't named here, except well-known people who were public about their car.

First and last 2

The Geneva prototype

The car shown at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and in photos of the first car's auction, was a prototype, not a production Collector Edition: its plaque read "0001/1000" and its sill plates carried a blue Grand Sport script. It has no place in the 001–940 run.

GM-owned cars 13

Cars GM kept or placed itself: for shows, the press, evaluation and promotion. Several later went to private owners, among them car 003 through the museum raffle.

Yellow calipers 4

Only four cars were ordered with yellow brake calipers (J6E). One of them, car 666, is known among owners as "the beast".

Manual Z07 convertibles 7

The rarest combination of body, transmission and Z07: seven convertibles with the manual and the Z07 package.

Red safety belts 4

Four cars were ordered with red safety belts (3F9).

Customer-selected VINs 3

Three cars were ordered with PIN, which let the buyer choose the car's number.

The Missing Five 5

Numbers 246 to 250 were never built; their orders became cars 663, 669, 665, 559 and 648. Read more

Lost

Car 569 was a total loss after an engine-compartment fire; its interior parts went into a tribute build on another 2017 Grand Sport.
