The Collector Edition

How the price was built

Every Collector Edition's window sticker adds up the same way: the Grand Sport base price, the Z25 package and 3LT equipment every car carried, the transmission, each option, then destination. The registry rebuilds that sum for every car and checks it against the sticker.

The starting point

The lowest a Collector Edition could be ordered for, with no extra-cost options, in 2017 US dollars:

The range

Across the 793 US cars with a sticker on file, totals with destination run from $81,185 (car 100) to $111,475 (car 001); half came in under $85,285.

Counting every car, Canadian and export included, at 2017 US prices: the most optioned coupe is car 733 at $101,545 (built for Canada), and the most optioned convertible car 001 at $109,805, model and options before destination.

Prices that don't fit the pattern

  • Two second prices. The front license plate bracket (VK3) is no charge on most stickers and $40 on some; the Grand Sport underhood liner (VTE) is $290 on most and $280 on some. The registry uses whichever the car's sticker shows.
  • The first six cars (001โ€“006) carry $500 more than the sum of their options.
  • Car 001 carries $635 of extras for its charity auction; car 930 is $60 over the sum. Both are shown as a difference on the car's page.

Canadian and export cars

61 cars were built for Canada. Their stickers are in Canadian dollars, with CA$2,000 freight in place of destination; the registry holds 46 of them so far. The 81 export cars have no stickers in the registry. For every car, the registry also works out a US Equivalent: the same base, packages and options at 2017 US prices, without destination, so any two cars can be compared. How it's worked out.
