About the Registry

An independent owners' registry of every 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition, kept since 2017. It isn't affiliated with General Motors or Chevrolet.

How it started

In January 2017 Ken Pauley won car 043 in a National Corvette Museum raffle. In the month before he collected it at the museum, he set out to learn everything he could about the Collector Edition: he tracked other owners as they took delivery and posted on the Corvette Forum (as Mountainears), and the option statistics hooked him. A spreadsheet became the registry, and the registry became this site.

Over the years owners, dealers and GM people have helped fill in the record: an inside dealer source pulled GM's order and dealer data for every car in 2017 and 2018, and a GM-data contact confirmed VINs and Build Dates in 2025. Sources are named by role, never by person. How the registry works.

Knowing your car

Corvette owners take pride in knowing their car: its numbers, its options, its story, and what makes it rare. Some call them obsessive; they'd say passionate. The registry is built for them. As far as we know, it is the most detailed record of any special-edition Corvette series outside the National Corvette Museum: every one of the 935 cars, its build, its options and its original destination, checked against GM's own records. And all of it is open to the public.

What it's for

  • Record every car as GM built it, with each value sourced and every change traceable.
  • Explain the codes, documents and terms, so an owner or buyer can read their own car's records.
  • Follow each car's life after the factory, with owners shown only as Owner 1, Owner 2. That part opens with owner accounts in a later release.

It isn't trying to be the Corvette authority. It aims to be the authority on the 2017 Collector Edition.
